I LOVED the after-credits scene in the recent Avengers movie; one of the best I've seen in a while.

Yeah that was the Spider-man scene. I think it was only halfway through the credits though. Thanos in the Avengers was awesome, but in Spider-Man it could be anyone in that cell so what is the point of it?

Yeah, that was good too, but I was talking about the other scene (restaurant).

Prometheus 9/10: The story doesn't reveal much, but the visuals are state of the art. Can't wait for the sequel.

Avengers 8.5/10: Not as thrilling as TDKR, but popcorn cinema at its best.

Chronicle 3/10: Mediocre hybrid of Harry Potter & Cloverfield

Five-Year Engagement 6/10: Standard romantic comedy, but gotta love Emily Blunt and the brunette from Community.

The Muppets 6/10: Probably awesome for kids, all the random cameos like Dave Grohl save the bland songs.

I went to see Prometheus with about six dudes including myself. Only I and one other person loved it. The other four guys said it wasn't on par with the original Alien. I asked them where the hell they got the impression that the film was supposed to be that.

Fox' marketing folks had hyped it up as Alien prequel, till Scott said it developed its own direction. They'll most probably make a trilogy out of it, maybe the connection to Alien will get closer, maybe not. Nevertheless it's a pretty unique movie with breathtaking visuals. Lightyears beyond average sci-fi/fantasy stuff like Chronicle, Super 8, Cowboys & Aliens etc.

Yep, that's what I thought as well. Ever since the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, we all know how ugly prequels or sequels (Indiana Jones 4) of classic films, especially sci/fi, can get.

I enjoyed Super 8 as a sort of a throwback, family, sci/fi flick, but the others you mentioned are indeed pretty forgettable.

That is also why I'm wary of upcoming The Hobbit films, despite being very personally attached to the LOTR books and movie trilogy.

The animated Clone Wars series has ruined Star Wars for me. Why Mr. Lucas, why?

Super 8 is okay, but it's just too similar to E.T. & Cloverfield for me. Congrats to Abrams & Spielberg for ripping their own movies off.

Just like with Christopher Nolan, I have faith in Peter Jackson. Loved each and every of his movies so far. Yes, even the King Kong remake (<3 Naomi Watts).

I respectfully disagree. Prometheus has a plot made of holes, forgettable and often ridiculous characters and an undirected narrative structure. It's a collection of a few good scenes with a weak thread to connect them. The aesthetic is pleasing but does not serve the film in any exceptional way.
It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.
