Another example, in a way, is Jurassic Park 2. Malcolm's daughter is black so presumably her mother is as well, although she's not shown in the film.

And while it's not mentioned in the film, it is an obsession with some viewers. If you head on over to the films IMDB page, on its message boards, there's threads that boil down to people not being able to get over it.

Well Saga might not be such a great example. The book is mostly about how he is a goat man and she is a bird woman and how their people are at war with each other.

I only saw the first season of Heroes, but was anything mentioned about the ethnicities of Nikki (white woman) and D.L. (African-American man)?
It's been awhile since I did a series rewatch of it but I don't think so. They were really only in the first season. They had a few scenes in the second season and that was it.

White guy/black girl is a little different. That, occasionally, does happen in film without it having to be a movie about race relations.

    True. Even Friends did it.

Friends was very open to new ideas. They even had a chicken and a duck being raised side by side.

saw Zach and Miri Make a Porn for the first time. Seth Rogen of course can only be Seth Rogen, but I really liked the chemistry with Liz Banks. also....the scene where the one girl is feeling constipated has a pretty hardcore "shock and awe" quality to it. goddamn

It was very different. I'm surprised at how different it managed to be despite being another "found footage/shaky cam" movie set in the same exact apartment building. It didn't try to be as "realistic" (inasmuch as any zombie movie can be) as the original [REC], and I'm not sure if it's because I saw Quarantine before I ever saw the original [REC], but I found [REC] 2 to be quite a bit more disturbing. Especially the big twist ending, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Ew

Without spoilerizing too much, I'll say that the religious iconography that we caught a glimpse of in the final moments of the first [REC] figures tremendously in the sequel. Which was probably a bit of a risky choice in a nation so heavily Catholic as Spain. There's more graphic violence in this one. Sure, the first had plenty of blood, but this one features no less than five people getting their heads blown off by a gun. And while the cameras don't linger on those moments, they do show them. It fills in some of the gaps left by the original [REC], but I'm not so sure that's a good thing. Not having perfect knowledge contributes to the suspense and the terror.

Watched From Dusk Till Dawn for the first time since it originally came out. Man, it was over the top. I forgot what a great bad guy George Clooney can be.
