The actual film wasn't too bad, but I wish it had been a little more experimental and gone all out with the game jumping. As it stands, it feels too localised. The villains, the actual villains, were also too downplayed and one of them didn't even make sense in the context of the universe, leaving the climax feeling dry. But it met my expectations all round.

But Fairly Odd Parents already did this, but with TV. Of coarse, this movie could have done it a lot better, but just thought that was worth bringing up... for some reason.

I never got to see The Simpsons. My mom thought it was too inappropriate, and my aunt always had Nickelodeon on for my cousin, up until we lost our cable. Then we resorted to watching really crappy kid's films and chick flicks. And now I just have no interest in reruns of the modern episodes.

Came back from Jack Reacher. Having never seen One Shot, I don't know how faithful it is to the book, but I feel like the movie is a police procedural with 80's cop movie trimmings, and I have no idea how to explain that. It's entertaining, and much more fun than I originally imagined it would be (one fight scene that takes place in a bathroom alone is worth the price of Rosamund Pike's acting), but I doubt I'll see it more than the one time.

WARNING: The following written review contains spoilers for some movie you've probably never heard of and some really lame jokes.

    Choose (2010 film)

Created in 2010 and released to DVD this year, Choose is sure to be that lump of coal in your Christmas stocking. Wait, you mean Christmas already happened? So that's why there was that fat guy in my furnace...

This movie's premise is that there is a criminal on the loose obsessed with making people make difficult choices, such as which parent to kill or whether you'd want your fingers cut off or your ears drilled. This is an interesting enough premise, I guess, but it's handled so poorly. They made up a mental psychosis for it's killer, only for it not to matter at all in the end.

The movie could have ended in two minutes. The first scene is the murderer, having tied a mother and father to a bed, trying to get a teenage girl to choose who will die. After finally giving in to her father's plea and choosing him, the killer hands the girl a knife and tells her to do it. I don't know about you, but wouldn't it be too easy to stab the guy standing next to you telling you to kill your dad? In this scene he has a gun, sure, but if I were there, I'd say "f*** it" and stab him in the cranium before he had time to react.

This film is really predictable after this point. I sat there literally yelling what was going to happen next as these characters made really lame choices and the evidence became even more blatant. There's even a classic throwaway character there for the sole purpose of hopefully throwing the audience off into thinking it's him, when it's just some perv making jokes about the murders.

The ending, though, threw me off guard in a bad way. There is no way of seeing it coming; I even went back to watch it again up to that point and there were zero hints towards what the twist was. A good twist ending has a build up; it has evidence that the audience can clearly understand after knowing the twist. The twist here, though, is not even hinted at all throughout the film. Sure, the key person in this twist is seen earlier, but there's no evidence as to who this person is or what relation he has with the plot.

The acting here isn't Birdemic bad, but it's also not good. It's the kind of bad that is impossible to make fun of because it's simply bland, but not too bland as to make it unintentionally funny. There's also some factual errors in many of the investigation scenes that shouldn't be overlooked. A lot of the scenes don't even make sense, and could easily have been edited out or at least explained a bit more.

In conclusion, this was a waste of space in my DVD cupboard, and when I return it to the DVD rental place, I will most likely just rent something I know is good just to wash this out of my system. It's the kind of bad that isn't funny, it's just embarrassing.

    Hoot

I had read the book in middle school, so when I found this on Netflix I thought "what the hell" and put it on.

There's just some things that should stay in print. This tale about eco-activism does not really translate well into film. They had to take away some elements and plot twists, which I can understand, but the ones they got rid of were the more interesting ones, making this film an awkward series of events that lasts about 90 minutes.

I felt bored throughout parts of the film, while others made me realize just how irrational the book is. I don't mean in theme, I mean it's characters don't react the same way regular humans do. For example, I've never met a parent who made his or her kid write an apology note to a bully after a fight, only to tell him that it's too strict because it mentions that his or her kid doesn't want to be bullied anymore.

It's not the worst film in the world, and there were some parts I did enjoy. Some of the cleverness of the book does shine through, even if it's just a glimmer rather than what it could have been. It's not as horrid as some critics make it out to be, but the characters seem way more harsh here than in the book (or at least how I remember the book).

Well Django Unchained sure was a movie. It ended SOO many times. And holy **** there was a ton of blood. Was a pretty damn good movie with great acting all around. Some parts were hard to watch even for me. Not the best QT movie but damn close. I always like seeing how he puts himself in his movies and this one was pretty good.

    - it was ok. the tone was dreadful to watch. similar to brick.

    silent night deadly night 2012
    - i think i saw it before. anyway, it's a bad remake. better than the original but still bad.

    the avengers
    - ugh, what a mess. i stopped 20 minutes short from the end. maybe i will resume but probably wont.

    frankenweenie
    - had lots of charm and some good moments but overall it was pretty empty.

    iron sky
    - i was shocked by how much work went into this movie. it's like a syfy movie with a hollywood budget. i actually enjoyed it

    Killing Them Softly - 7/10

Decent I suppose, I can certainly see why many people didn't like it and why it bombed in the box office. It didn't really have a definitive climax and the whole movie was rather off-key, not great, but definitely not as bad as people say especially if you're into off-key films such as this.

    The Possession - 2/10

Another movie about some girl getting possessed. Feels like I've seen this movie a dozen times before, needless to say, the concept has been way overused in horror these days.
