Decent I suppose, I can certainly see why many people didn't like it and why it bombed in the box office. It didn't really have a definitive climax and the whole movie was rather off-key, not great, but definitely not as bad as people say especially if you're into off-key films such as this.
It totally feels like they accidentally left off about 45 minutes at the end. Also pretty much everyone but Pitt was anywhere from horrible to meh.

Yeah, I guess that adds to the lack of a climax when it ended just when business was picking up.

I liked Gandolfini's character even though he didn't really play a major part, Liotta's character was an idiot but he plays it well... the two robbers were the only really bad part as far as acting goes and the actual robbing scene (which looking back, probably was the climax of the whole thing) was absolutely dreadful. The fact this movie didn't have extravagant acting sort of added to its demeanor of being off-key. I liked that about it, the acting wasn't too over-dramatic or over-sensationalized, but rather it was more realistic take on the situation.

Another movie about some girl getting possessed. Feels like I've seen this movie a dozen times before, needless to say, the concept has been way overused in horror these days.
Pretty much has been over used since 1973.

Watched Beasts of the Southern Wild last night. The movie thrives off its two leads, which is good because while there's traces of a plot it's more of a story about the relationship between a daughter and her father from her perspective. Both actors are amazing in this movie and I'm glad to hear they're both doing other film projects (though man who plays the father is a baker and probably won't be doing much more than this). The script is fantastic, and the leads seem to pretty effortlessly sell it. Worth a watch.

    So Les Mis.

Les Mis was great. I’m not a fan of musicals and even more so the kind of musical Les Mis is and I still loved it. There were times where I thought I should clap but then remembered I was at the movies. Not a weak moment in this movie. Crowe’s last solo and all of Hathaway’s were great. And Bark’s last scene. My god. I wasn’t audibly sobbing like some people in the theater but I’m not ashamed to say some tears were shed

So I decided to watch my first sex romp since American Pie. Gotta say, this was a hot steamy mess.

The plot is a college student named Miles is so great with the ladies, his friend places a bet around the school to see if he can sleep with a different girl for each letter of the alphabet before graduation. He finally agrees to take the challenge, and off camera he succeeds up to the letter X. When he finds this girl who's last name starts with X, she happens to be a girl his nerdy, virgin roommate wants. Shenanigans ensue.

The lead characters make me glad I'm a nerd instead of a typical jock. These people have no regard to the feeling of others, and make sex look like a chore rather than something fun like these movies are supposed to do. The rivalry between the roommates is completely jacked up on both sides; I didn't root for either side, instead hoping they both get humiliated or hurt in some way. And these females must either be complete sluts or there's some off-screen suaveness that this Miles guy has that we can't see.

The production here is terrible, given how often the camera shakes and such. The audio mixing is rather odd here, because parts of some songs from montages overpower important dialogue, then fade out. The acting here is half-assed, and for a sex comedy there wasn't that much on-screen sex. I would think that's what the audience for these things would want. Of coarse, there's many references to male genitalia and a character arc that involves a dude shaving his privates, but that's not sexy; that's a bit "off."

In a nutshell, I'd say this movie fails at being sexy, instead making sex look as unappealing as taking out garbage. The ending is a nice touch, though, even if I saw it coming. Or it could be me hoping it'd happen.

Also, the end joke is literally trolling anyone coming in expecting anything more than covered-up missionary sex.

About the past month or so of movies...

    The Impossible - 9/10

One of Naomi Watts' best performances and a very emotionally moving movie as well.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - 5.5/10

Not really my thing, but was interesting enough to keep me entertained for 2.5 hours, but wouldn't mind if I never see this movie again.

    The Paperboy - 2.5/10

Pretty ****ty, but if you like Nicole Kidman playing a total slut, you'll probably love it. And the ending sucked.

    Skyfall - 9/10

Not familiar with any James Bond movies, but I'll certainly be giving them a watch soon. Very good action movie.

John Dies At The End - 2/10

Boring attempt at a comedy/horror movie.

    This Is 40 - 5/10

This movie feels like it tries everything in its power to stay average and ultimately it succeeds.

    Lincoln - 9.5/10

Absolutely loved this movie, Daniel Day Lewis puts up the best acting performance of the year by a good margin. Absolute must-see.

    Compliance - 4.5/10

On one hand, I wanted to feel sorry for the people that went through a situation like this, but on other hand, how ****ing stupid can you be honestly? Some dude over the phone telling some girl to strip naked and have some random guy feel her up because she needs to be strip searched as part of a crime investigation? I mean, c'mon now, just because the guy said he was a cop doesn't mean it suddenly makes sense to comply to everything he says. It scares me that this is a true story as well and not because of the creeper on the phone, but because people actually went along with it.

    Stop with the ****ing remakes!!

Is it really that hard to come up with something original in Hollywood now? Especially horror movies, by the time they're done, they would have remade every major horror movie from the 70's/80's/90's within the next 10 years and I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing remakes of remakes or movies getting remade multiple times if that hasn't happened already. I could have sworn I read they're making another remake of Psycho and it's just a matter of time before Night Of The Living Dead gets another remake, just somebody please stop this disgrace from continuing.

I concur... however, the new Dead is produced by Raimi, the original creator, so it has his blessing.

Unrelated, scroll down to the bottom of the Evil Dead page and read the caption for the Obama picture. That's awesome.

Edit: It's a real comic. I had no idea.
