Pintech TC 10" e-cymbal with Ion Kit (Review, Instructions, Video)

I purchased two of the cymbal mounts linked on the first page:
SP boom clamp
SP Micro Cymbal arm
A couple general notes about them:
The micro arm is just that: Small. I don't have the Ion rack, but I'm not sure how well it will work with it. You only get 6" of clearance, if that, between the bottom center of the cymbal and the rack arm it's mounted to. Also, you might - might - be able to get 8" between the center of the cymbal and the center of the rack arm. I don't know how well that will work when you have a pad mounted on the same arm. The 1-1/2" tube does fit in the clamp, but with very little room to spare.

The boom clamp mounts to an upright post only. The boom arm is nice and long, placement shouldn't be an issue with this.

Both of these will slightly abrade the paint on your rack. They are "real" cymbal mounts, after all, made of metal, not sissy plastic like the Ion crap.

Both pieces, though not "brand-name," are solidly constructed. Your Ion rack will break before these things will.

I can recommend the boom clamp without hesitation. YMMV with the micro arm, though.

Note: I have Pintech PC 14" cymbals.

Agreed, I've bought Sound Percussion hardware before and it's pretty good. No, it doesn't have a quality hardware name like Gibraltar behind it, but SP is Guitar Center's in-store brand, so it's not like it's a complete unknown

The sell the same EXACT versions of the Sound Percussion mounts here in Canada under the Gibraltar name. The only difference is the wing nut. I have 2 SPC18s from WWBW and I bought a Gibraltar locally as the price was the same. First thing I noticed about the Gibraltar one is that everything including the packaging was identical to the SP. The only difference is the name.

I HIGHLY appreciate the work put in by the OP, just want to know what's what . I won't need a ton of clearance, since I'll just make this my blue right above the pad.

Just wanted to say thank you to David for all the information here and to Brian from Hope Drums. My Pintech Cymbal arrived today over here in germany and it's just perfect!

More silent than the Ion Cymbals and perfectly registering every single hit.

Brian managed to get the cymbal over here in five days.

If you're going to put the cymbal right above the pad then the micro arm should do the trick for you no problem. Keep in mind though it has no tilt.

I just mounted the 10" pintech on the ion stock kit. Just had to get the washer, sleeve and 2 felts. And wow it's much better than the stock ones. This little guy is QUIET, but it lacks any kind of bounce to it. Not a big deal at all though, well worth it. Now I want to get two 14s for the ride and crash!

PS : the kick pedal the ion comes with is absolutely horrible.

Almost all of the relevant info is in the first page or so (don't know for sure, I cranked up my post per page settings) but here.

The SPC18 is a great mount. I bought an extra to replace the short mount that comes on the stock ION.

The TC series is a flexible cymbal with little rebound so it is quieter than the stock IONs. The PC is harder. I don't know how loud these are but I guess they are louder. David generally advises against going for the fancier cymbals but its your choice. I know only what is on the site for the rest.

Most people like using the 10" TC as a hi hat. It is pretty quiet so you could buy that and use the stock as blue/green.

The 14" in my opinion makes a great crash but is louder than the 10" and sucks as a ride.

You will need to buy separate mono 1/4" cables to connect these cymbals.

Lastly get some thicker felts to keep the cymbal in place.

I'm happy with the 10" TC as my hi hat, but I had to use additional felts with the arm I bought from Hope drums because it would still spin slightly. The wing nut was pushing the felt so much that it wasn't holding the arm. I may just need to get some washers so that down force is spread out a bit more.

I've got a 14" as my ride now, and the ION as the crash, but I might switch them. I'm still feeling them out. And I tried for 2-3 songs to go with two crashes, but I was easily confusing myself, trying to figure out which crash to go with, and I'd miss a lot more notes. So it's back to just three cymbals until I get a bit better.
