Unbelievable.
I'm writing a blog. This is the first time I'm writing a blog in my whole life.
(and probably the last time
) And I'm writing in English! You know what, this is
not my native language! (Yeah, I'm actually from Vienna, Austria!) And that is
why you may find some spelling errors or other mistakes.

Anyway, why
have I decided to write a blog? I guess the reason is because I want to say how
awesome the boys and girls at Harmonix are. Videogame Developers are almost
like celebrities for me, and some of them are real celebrities, like Miyamoto
and Hideo Kojima (who I actually really met once at the Games Convention when I
was working for an online magazine). Most of them are unapproachable. But with
Harmonix it feels different. At least in this forum I really have the feeling
that they talk to us and that they really listen to our suggestions for the
game.

Of course,
everyone has a different taste in music, so they can't make everyone 100%
satisfied. But I like the announced songlist, they have a lot of variety in
there so far. I'm hoping that one day I will connect to the internet, read a
news headline saying "New Rock Band Songs announced" and I will notice that one
of those songs is a song I suggested for the game. I'm sure it would feel
pretty awesome.

Actually, I
never felt this way about a game ever before. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about
upcoming blockbuster games like Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed (Hmm, Jade,
),
but the game I'm thinking about day and night is Rock Band. Finally the one
game to make all my dreams come true. Yes, I'm a videogamer, but I'm also a
musician. Not a professional one, but I've been in a few garage bands after
all. My real friends though, are not musicians at all, but they love playing
Guitar Hero. So finally, with Rockband I can form a band with my best friends.

I know, a
lot of you don't want to hear that, but the only thing I didn't like about
Guitar Hero 2 was the songlist. There were a few songs that were fun to play,
but overall I wasn't that happy. A lot of classic rock, some Metal and the rest
were bands I didn't know.

I still
love playing it though. And (looking at the official songlist so far) I think
with Rockband they're doing it right! I'm happy with the 2000s songs (although
I would have chosen "Walk Idiot Walk" over "Main Offender") and I'm hoping for
even more great modern music like Bloc Party, Placebo and Angels & Airwaves
(and some particular songs like Papa Roach's Last Resort, Radiohead's Paranoid Android or Alien Ant Farm's
Smooth Criminal.)

(And if old
stuff, then not only classic rock, what about my favourite 80s band THE CURE!?)

Anyway,
this blog should not be about my ultimate songlist (there is a forum for that),
I'm sure the folks at Harmonix read the song wishes of the fans and they'll
think about all the suggestions.

And that's
what I want to say! I really like the fact that you can actually be a part of
the development of this game!! Who knows, maybe someone here suggested a band
or a song that Harmonix didn't know about, and maybe they think it's great and
maaaaybe this song will be in the game. And all that just because a fan
suggested it.

So, yeah,
that's almost everything I wanted to say. Oh, and is it just me or will this be
the greatest year of videogaming ever??! Well, for me, at least, it will be the
most expensive.
