The Story
Social Distortion had logged more than a decade together when this track was released in 1992. By then they’d busted out of LA’s legendary punk scene, and toured the country with acts as diverse as Minor Threat and Neil Young. Meanwhile, frontman Mike Ness, who formed and rehearsed the band in his one-room Orange County apartment, had conquered a dangerous heroin habit.
Ness’ struggles and recovery would fuel his songs for years to come. “Bad Luck” was a major radio hit and led to a memorable co-headline tour with the Ramones. In April of 2009, a small bit of musical history occurred when Ness performed “Bad Luck” live with Bruce Springsteen.
Trivia
Mike Ness is a vegetarian and has spoken out against the factory farming of animals.
Gameplay Hints
Don‘t save your Overdrive - deploy it when you get it, because the toughest concentration of notes comes just before the guitar solo.
Where Are They Now?
Social Distortion carries on with Ness at the helm.
