The Story

This is a song that singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale wrote while sitting at the drum kit, taking the high-hat/kick rhythm as the springboard for the song. It was one of the songs that Stockdale came up with after the original lineup of Wolfmother splintered, with original bassist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Haskett both claiming irreconcilable personal and musical differences.

Though temporarily without a band, Stockdale continued to write songs without knowing who would be playing them. Cosmic Egg marks the debut of Wolfmother’s new lineup, and Stockdale says that “Everything is magnified. The heaviness is magnified to heavier state. The simple ones are really simplistic, two-minute songs, and the journey songs are like 12 parts.”

Trivia

As a child Andrew Stockdale watched television at least three hours a day; he now thinks that ideas he absorbed from his TV watching are still coming out in his songs.

Gameplay Hints

This song requires singing a very wide range of notes. There are times when the vocal line follows the guitar part that get really high so keep an eye out for those. The verse vocals are quite low. In either case, remember that you can sing in any octave, but try your hand (or voice) at singing the full range of notes.

The guitar part is more fun than challenging, with some tricky descending triplets in the solo.
