The Story

Bang Camaro had just returned from a tour when we found out that the deadline for a song in Rock Band 2 was looming. We were getting a little tired of our old songs and wanted to come out with something special. It turned out that our friend Mike Oor and his girlfriend/writing partner Heidi Saperstein had a cool guitar part and chorus that they wanted to share with us.

The song was originally called “Hot Love” (“Hot Loooove… gimme gimme Hot Love.”) However, we had just played a month of shows and were inspired to write about some of the darker sides of the rock ‘n’ roll experience. So, the song content was changed to “Night Lies” and talks about the shallow things that shallow people say to each other that we saw every night in different rock clubs. The song features a cool drum intro from our drummer Pete Mccarthy that we’ve been using to open our sets recently.

Trivia

The video for the song was directed by Michael Pope who has recently done videos for Ben Folds and the Dresden Dolls.

Gameplay Hints

If you’re playing guitar, save up your Overdrive for Alex’s outro solo, which is the most technically demanding part of the song.

If you’re singing, take some deep breaths before the chorus. There are some long notes that you have to hold.

If you’re playing bass, try to feel that bass groove at the beginning!

On drums, try headbanging throughout the entire intro like Pete does… it’s tough.

Where Are They Now?

Most likely, when you read this, Bang Camaro is on the road for their “Rock Stars, Small Bars” tour. Yes, the line is from “Night Lies.”
