The Story

Alice Cooper wanted to write a song about five of the greatest minutes in a teenager’s life—The ones where you’re sitting in a classroom waiting for the final school bell to ring. He nailed it in time for graduation week 1972, when “School’s Out” was released as a single. The song went Top 10 and turned Alice from an underground threat to a genuine rock star. Rolling Stone magazine named it as the 319th greatest song of all time; but when you’re sitting in that classroom it’s a lot closer to number one.

Original vinyl copies of the School’s Out album were a real '70s relic: The cover looked like a beat-up school desk, and the record itself came wrapped in a pair of panties. This made parents even more nervous than they already were.

Trivia

Producer Bob Ezrin was behind the boards for two anti-school anthems that featured real-life schoolkids in the chorus. Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2” was the other

Gameplay Hints

This song has a very tricky looking HOPO slide in the main riff. However if you leave your 2 middle fingers on the yellow and blue chords, you can just use your pinky to get the orange hammer-ons.

On vocals, note that Alice sometimes deviates from the known melody in the choruses, so it may be easier to follow along with the crowd singalong.

Where Are They Now?

Still scaring strong.
