The Story

This socially-unconscious Scandinavian band would be pleased to know that they have one of the least responsible songs in Rock Band. “Wasted Again” means what it says; the song’s about indulging in ill-advised behavior and being proud of it.

The lyrical slant was nothing new for this band, but the sound was: Long based in hardcore punk, Turbonegro recorded this one in Los Angeles and went for more of a tongue-in-cheek hair-metal sound. But the hardcore roots were still there: The California surfer-dude voice saying “It’s four AM” is first-generation LA punk Keith Morris, from the Circle Jerks. The guys in Turbonegro were likely aware that Morris’ first band, Black Flag had a song called “Wasted.” Some things are universal.

Trivia

Turbonegro consider themselves the fourth greatest band in the universe. They don’t claim to be greater then AC/DC, the Ramones or Slayer.

Gameplay Hints

If you’re on guitar, alt-strumming will save your arm on this song. Practice it and you will then have the energy for the fast-strum and HOPO sections.

Bass is similar: Once you get the main strum rhythm down just practice that and maintain the note changes which are nice and spread-out. You should be able to Gold Star this one, as long as you’re not in the condition mentioned in the lyric.

Where Are They Now?

Guitarist Knut “Euroboy” Schreiner successfully battled Hodgkin’s disease in 2008. In early 2009 he was declared cancer-free and the band was set to raise more hell.
