I will never claim to be an authority on music. What I can say and I quote The Ojays, "I love music". I will not quote what they say after that because there is a handfull if not less of genres that I don't like personally.
That brings me to The Mother Hips and their two available DLC: Red Tandy and Time-Sick Son of A Grizzly Bear. Initially, my thoughts were "Who are the Mother Hips?" I read a couple of negative posts but then looked them up on rhapsody. I heard the two songs and thought to myself, "This is kinda groovy in a mystery machine kinda way." Later I realized that they were the band who had a bonus song on RockBand. My first thought was "I don't think HMX should be selling us the songs for full price."
I downloaded the songs after seeing the charts on them. HMX didn't have to sell anymore. I had already enjoyed the songs, I just had a problem with the price. I decided to download the songs anyways.
After playing both songs for the first time, I was not upset that I paid full price for them. I thought both were very fun to play on all intruments and also fun to sing. These songs have been popular at parties when friends came over.
That brings me to the flaming of The Mother Hips. I mean, if sticks and stones could kill, This band would have been dead 100's of times over. I have not been able to find a single post that has convinced me that they should not be liked for x, y and z reasons.
As for me, Red Tandy happens to be one of my favorite songs to play and sing on RockBand. Those who haven't played it or sang it should consider doing otherwise. They may find something that they wished they hadn't discovered sooner.
I give The Mother Hips DLC a big thumbs-up and would recommend it to all those who are able to buy DLC.
