Rock Band was AWESOME.

That's really all that needs to be said - but I know it's not enough to satisfy you crazed impression-starved masses, so here goes:

Guitar - The guitar is very, very nice. it was odd the first day I used it simply because it was so...different. The second day when I went back and picked it up again, I played a few more songs and it started to sink in.

The buttons are really quite nice feeling, and while there's no blatant point between the buttons I'm sure it's something we will get used to in time, and shouldn't take long. The lower buttons are bad ass as well, but one has to remember to actually use them during a solo!

The strum bar is very nice. Very Quiet. This also took some getting used to because of the fact that the 'clicking' in guitar hero is used to measure how many strums I took and such.

The strum bar however is a lot thinner towards the inside and sort of pans out to a rounded tip.. kind of like if you took a 'Sorry' game piece and cut it in half, that's what the strum bar would look like from the sides.

I really do like the guitar, and hope it doesn't take too much time to get used to. I think it'll be great. It just feels better and was actually quite odd going back to the GH guitars later that night.

Drums - = omegawesometon,

They are SO fun to play and the hardware was very well built, and even took a BEATING by some people (including me, I got into it a little too much at first), but are very sensitive.

Apparently the retail versions are going to be even better + quieter! If you've ever had a desire to play drums you will love this. The kick pedal feels great, the pads have a good amount of bounce, but I did not watch any expert notecharts so I can't comment on how crazy it gets, but hard for some songs was pretty damn challenging.

The stand is also able to lower or raise thanks to clips on the legs.

Vocals - oh man... oh man! Once again, these are way more fun than I thought they would be, and now I find myself singing the songs even after I left the stage.

I really can't wait until this comes out. It's a lot more fun singing along when you KNOW THE WORDS. Plus, with vocals it doesn't take too long to get the gist of how a song sounds if you've never heard it before, just maybe one or two listens and you know what to expect.

Don't get me wrong though - they are very challenging and I do think this will actually help some people with their singing if they try. It's great fun, but it's also disappointing when you watch some people not even try and just do their own thing.(which usually sounds like ass) It can be hilarious when done correctly however ;)

I'm not even going to try to embed this again, it gave me hell:

so awesome.

as for the tour itself, they did a great job, were very active, and there were three stations inside the bus, as well as the one stage outside.

Everyone playing was chill too, and I actually met a few cool cats since I had to find all new bands each time since I went alone, it was awesome. This game is going to bring people together and everyone will love it.

Oh, yeah. MTV taped one of our songs on stage and then interviewed us, it was awesome, like 20 minutes at least. It's gonna be sweet if any of this stuff makes it to... well.. anywhere!

169.99? Yes please... oh, and throw in a 1600 point card for some downloads.

:)

I simply can't wait for this game.

Finally five starred EVERY song on expert. The last two being Six and Jordan. Jordan I just finished (woot) and Six I finished a couple days ago.

now comes the hardest part... beating the game on easy medium and hard to get the rest of my achievements.. ugh. I wish I got them automatically for beating expert like gears does with its difficulty levels. I can't stand playing the lower difficulties.. and having to go through all three for just achievements is going to be killer.. I'm not sure I'm up for it.. thats like.. 200 songs+! thats a long time =(

anyway. I'm happy. I never thought I would EVER beat jordan let alone 5* it let alone 5* EVERYTHING.

so happy! if anyone wants to make me a shirt that says I five starred every song on expert YES INCLUDING JORDAN  (or something) that would be sweet.

Well, I had to do it.

There was 4 songs really bugging me last night that I had to beat, Institutionalized, The Trooper, Rock this town, and Misirlou.

I just could not 5 star these. Until last night. I felt a surge of power. I kept playing misirlou, and kept raising my score, but still never 5*'d, I was so sad, so I went to try the other songs, and was able to 5* my first try on Rock This town (FINALLY), Institutionalized I restarted twice but when I fully played it through I had 5 starred that too!, the trooper has a bunch of really annoying parts to get right, but wouldn't you know? my second time playing that through I was able to 5* it too!

There was magic in the air! I must be improving!

Then there was Misirlou. This beast I had to try about 20 times, I still can't really get the strumming timing right for some reason. My score started at 130k and I was able to boost it to 150k.. still no 5 star.. 170k.. still no.. 180k.. nope.. 190k!!!.. nope.. finally 203k, I had five starred it, and I had gotten the Start A Real Band Already achievement for 5*'ing all expert songs. And access to the log.

What do I have to say for myself? WOOT!

Bring on Rock Band!

Well, it's been interesting so far lol.

First of all, everyone there is very nice. I've met two of my three roomates (the third is always gone/always in his room), and they are nice as well.

The first day was pretty counter-productive considering we had to get my computer all set up, and install everything.

Long story short.. Vista does not play nice with 3D Studio Max.. So I spent the rest of that night reading documentation on how to use some of the tools I would be working with.

This morning we formatted and installed XP, and I'm in the process of learning how to use and import things into the Torque Engine. I'm getting a hang of it and by tomorrow there shouldn't be any problems bringing animated stuff in and working with it, and I'll probably have much more to do tomorrow.

So, yeah, I'm enjoying it =D

I pick up my monitor tomorrow from UPS so I'll be on XBL tomorrow night if anyone wanted to play some gears or something.

I'll keep ya updated!
