Video #1 of a series... I am planning on putting up as many vocals videos as I can/am able to of all the songs in the main setlist, then I'll proceed onto the DLC.
The vocal track is turned down so that you can hear my voice better, but I think I need to turn the instruments down, too.
Enjoy!

So I figured I'd make a post today since HMXJohnlok mentioned writing in his blog more.
It occurred to me that I have an awful lot of characters. I only really use a handful of them, but they have accumulated over time with the vast quantity of people who have played the game with me.
Then it also occurred to me that I am in two Band World Tours - one on my HDD and one on my roommates'. The story behind this is that we originally started BWT on my roommate's HDD, but he chose drums as the leader. He can't pass everything on expert drums yet, which means we can't do the endless setlist and get that coveted platinum icon. Thus, we started a new BWT over on MY xbox (since I had already piddled around with it a bit) and we're working on completing each of the cities before attempting the Endless Setlist probably sometime in the next couple of weeks.
It occurred to me NEXT that I'm actually in 3 bands on Scorehero - Four Play Long Island was the band I took with me to my most recent tournament - we haven't really played together since then, but I also have two other bands on Scorehero: Moody Water, comprised of fellow PMS/H2O members for playing the main setlist, and 3 Mods, a Girl and the DLC - my DLC-only band.
So now I'm sitting at 5 bands and of course, that pile of alter-egos on my account.
No wonder people tell me I play this game too much. >_>

I was so surprised and so happy to see Still Alive being relased (for free, too!) YESTERDAY! What a nice surprise. Thanks so much Harmonix!
It's a great song for vocalists - albeit a little on the simple side, but still just so much fun.
My current score is 202,968 - hopefully I can break 203,000 later this week. :)
>_> The cake is a lie!

Every year around the March timeframe the webcomic Ctrl + Alt + Del hosts a big LAN party called Digital Overload. Being a big fan of the comic, and given that Digital Overload is held very close to my hometown of Boston, I decided to finally make the trip out for it this year. I was pretty excited to go just because I love LANs, but the icing on the cake was that there was to be a Rock Band tournament, too. I've been playing Rock Band very obsessively in the past few months, working my way up the leaderboards (as of this post I am currently #22 on Xbox Live for vocals) and playing together with various Scorehero members in bands.
Though the LAN was being held in Providence, RI, I actually flew to NYC for a number of reasons. First off, it was easier for my drummer, Phr34k, to get to NYC than to get to RI. Additionally, my sister lives in NYC and I hadn't seen her in quite a while. I spent Thursday with my sister and picked up Phr34k that night, and then Friday we picked up our rental car and drove to Rhode Island. We met up with our bassist, Alakaiser, at the Providence Hilton and our guitarist JCirri arrived in town not too long afterwards. We checked into the event but didn't stay - Anarchy Club and Death of the Cool, two of the bands who have songs on Rock Band were playing in Boston that night so we all took a trip to see their show.
The next day (Saturday) was our tournament - we were a bit nervous since this was the first Rock Band tournament for all of us, and we weren't exactly sure what to expect. Our first round, we played Gimme Shelter, and we scored about 700,000 points. I was quite disappointed, but it turned out that the lag on the TV was really messing up my bandmates - after spending some time calibrating we managed to get over double our score - 1.5 million. From there on out it was smooth sailing... for the remainder rounds we consistently scored in the millions and got to wow the onlookers. We won very convincingly, but I think everyone who played in the tournament had a good time.
Can't wait for the next one!!

So last weekend I flew back to my hometown of Boston. It was very pleasant there - warm, but not hot, and with the exception of Friday, the weather was quite nice. I even got to see my Mom on Mothers' Day, which is a rare occurrence now indeed.
On Saturday I got to see Anarchy Club, Death of the Cool and That Handsome Devil - I caught the tail end of Blanks, since dinner ran over a bit late. Being the SECOND time I've seen AC and DotC, I'd have to say I wasn't disappointed in the least - they always have so much energy. That Handsome Devil was fantastic as well.
The best part of this trip was that I got the chance to meet up with some other fellow Rock Band players - Tobias911 and Virtuoso86. It's a bit interesting meeting up since we're all rivals (vocalists FTW!), but at the same time we really get along with each other - I got some tips from both of them on how to play better. :)
Tobias is a camera fiend - he took a bunch of pictures, including some from the show: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v202/Tobias911/Boston%20Trip/
Sadly I didn't get a sheet of Death of the Cool stamps before I left, but hopefully I can get some next time. :D
