Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy Hits Rock Band

We regret to announce that our release of Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy has been delayed, please check back with us around 2021….Only kidding! It may have taken Axl Rose more a decade to create his rock'n'roll epic, but the complete album hits Rock Band in record time: Just five months after its release (minus of course "Shackler's Revenge," which already made its worldwide debut as a Rock Band 2 disc song) we're proud to present this monument to grandeur and sleaze.
The sheer ambition of the album is hard to miss: On any given track you may be playing alongside a wall of electronics, or a full orchestra and choir. The guitar parts include blistering leads by as many as five players at once. And you might be singing harmonies that a young, bratty Axl harmonized with an older, wiser Axl five years apart.
If you've played "Shackler's" you've heard the edgier, electronic side of the album; but there's a whole lot more going on here. Grand Axl ballads? Check. Nasty rockers in classic GNR style? Check. Mega-production numbers with a few touchs of prog rock? That too—The changes on "Madagascar" alone can get your head spinning.
For a long while, Chinese Democracy was the most notorious album that money couldn't buy. Rose went through multiple studios, bandmates and producers before he was satisfied. The original GNR lineup splintered before the sessions even started. Lots of big names came and went, including Queen guitarist Brian May and Skid Row's Sebastian Bach.
A couple of big names stuck around, like the Replacements' Tommy Stinson—yes, the same guy who plays bass on "Alex Chilton" is on most of this album. The album was delayed so long that Offspring jokingly threatened to steal the title Chinese Democracy, then thought better of it. Even when the album was released, controversy followed—Thanks to the title, you still can't buy it in China.
Controversies may come and go, however, but rock'n'roll is forever. Axl had the last laugh when Chinese Democracy was released last November, it was a huge hit—and now it's your turn to rock along.
Get ready to rock with the best music school on the planet!

It's just not Guns and Roses anymore. If Axl would've changed the band name to The Axl Rose band, or something like that, people would probably like it more. I mean Chris Cornell doesn't really sound like he did in Soundgarden, but his solo career is good.

And I really appreciate your opinion! I'm not arguing with you. But, I do like your optimisim on this board. It was totally getting trashed and you stated your opinion on the album. And hopefully inspired some new people to pick up the album, or get the DLC.
So, on behalf of the GNR fan club.I commend you.
Hahahaha. Seriously though, thanks!

i know that (as a guitar player myself).but i have my opinion and you have yours.

And I don't think anyone will argue with that. Slash is a great guitar player. I love guitar solos more than anything else in music. But, Solos by themselves are not good enough to sustain a full album.

slash does alot of good solos on that album

Really? I think that Spaghetti Incident is a good album...but, no where near as good as any of the others. It's not their own material...but,- for a cover album it's really good.

grunge 101, you just became my best friend on here! Hahaha.
Seriously though, Guns N' Roses is held to such a high standard. Chinese Democracy, even if it was the best damn album ever created, couldn't have reached that standard. Just like the Star Wars prequels, this was so hyped and looked forward too. I never expected an Appetite For Destruction. i just wanted some great Rock N' Roll, so if you listen to this album with that mind-set....thi- s- album is fantastic. Especially, compared to most of the crap that comes out now -a-days.

Seriously? Am I the only person who really loves this album? I mean for God's Sake, "Street of Dreams" is so remeniscent of "November Rain" and "Better" just feels and sounds like CLASSIC Guns N' Roses. This album has gotten dissed so badly that nobody new wants to buy it. They don't have a real opinion on it, just forming a response on someone else's review. So, to all you new people....BUY THE ALBUM.

just because slash is gone doesnt mean they **** it just means they have a different sound.bucket head is a better shredder than slash is but slash is a better melodic guitarist.

alderaanman...
I'd like to say that I have been totally against this release since I first heard about it, just like a lot of people here. I've listened to every song on the new album and have hated them. (Mainly because i've compared it to AFD)
But...I downloaded all the songs but 2 last night. Wow! The songs are charted very well and were extremely fun to play. I set aside my differences long enough to actually give the album a chance. I'm glad I did. It's not AFD. Not even close!! To me, it's not even GNR at all!! But, this album blew me away in Rock Band. I'm actually starting to like the songs now.
So, in conclusion...be- fore- last night, I was not even on the fence with this album. I was on the other side not even wanting to cross the fence. Instead of judging the album by what you don't like about the sound, try it in Rock Band to see if you actually have fun playing the songs. I think you will.

OhSnapItsNathan...
This album was a lifeless mess, didn't like any of it. AFD should of been the choice for a Guns N' Roses album, hell I bet it would of even sold better than Chinese Democracy in the Xbox/Wii/PS3 stores.

ZiggyXNAMVP...
I have to agree some some of the criticism that this is not a great guns n roses album. Appetite for Destruction would have made me drool for sure, long live Slash :)

Cleverpun...
I haven't given any of these tracks a buy yet, but from what I hear the vocals are crazy. Shame with all the bandmate changes: I do miss the days when Slash was the most recognizable member of GNR, and Brian May is always a good decision.

Jlay77...
I think that these songs are great but not for me to play.

HeavyHorse...
This is a great album, some of you need to quit playing "follow the leader" and actually LISTEN to it and develop an original opinion, not go by what others are saying and practically copying and pasting their response.. It may not be as epic as "Appetite for Destruction" and other select earlier material, but It's still hard and rockin' where it counts. Opinions are one thing, but some of the logic I've been seeing is too ridiculous to even mention.
Great article, brutal album, awesome all around stuff. 'Nuff said.

I think anybody whose complaining hasn't played the album, its freaking amazing for Guitar and Vocals. I go by the rule don't complain about something till you try it.

Did you have to agree with him 11 times? At least I only clicked one extra time before I realized I had to WAIT. The SpongeBob DLC obviously appealed to someone, even if it's not you. **** it up and wait your turn.

TheBlazer, keep your opinions to yourself. I, personally, LOVE Rock Band DLC, and I'm the most nonconformist, musically experimental person you'll meet this side of Narragansett Bay. Wreck on it all you want, but make sure you point out that it's your opinion. I, personally, look forwards to playing several of these songs.

As for Chinese Democracy... Ha. MAn CaNNoT WAiT 2 play dez songz!!

theblazer...
I think the Downloadable Content is, for the most part, garbage compared to the initial music you get with the game. I think they must not have the same minds behind the original research team. DLC is officially dead at this point. There hasn't been one song released since I got the game that has made me go, "Gotta have that!" and if you do, chances are, you'll be listening to the same music you listened to in college when you're 50. The new DLC is not for music lovers. It is for idiot pop masses who will pay money for the same old songs to sooth their pointless lives.

I have to agree with the others. Appetite for Destruction would have been a much better choice.

alexa345...
why did you do this??? come on guys you're Harmonix I don't know what but I agree with the last post, this is one of the worst albums of Guns' N Roses, why didn't you put the Appetite for destruction Album??? or you don't have one reason to put it??? well here it is "SLASH IS IN THERE" need more??? please, this album ****s and you can put something much better and worthy than this.

kingkeld...
Uhhh... I am usually not one to complain... but... did someone sleep through a meeting or something? Chinese Democracy is hands down one of the worst albums or 2008 - and definitely not worthy of the Guns N Roses tag that Axl so blatantly put on it.
If you are gonna release a full GNR album (which is a GREAT idea!), why not Appetite for Destruction?!?
Guess Axl and his wall of marketing is getting you to do this.
Well, I guess I will play the TEN album again this week. Axl and his democracy will not reach my hard drive.
