Yeehaw, ya’ll! More Country!

country_pack_03.jpg

This week, the rest of the songs that were exclusive to the Country Track Pack are coming for download in the Rock Band Music Store. I do declare, a lot of folks are gonna be excited about this one.

We get a lot of requests for country music over here at Rock Band headquarters. I personally love playing the genre's songs in Rock Band. The guitar parts are often intricate (lots of pickin') and the vocals are challenging (you gotta get that twang just right!). This week's country selections represent a good cross section.

Pop country staple Kenny Chesney's "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy," Montgomery Gentry's "Gone," Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang," Sara Evans' "Suds in the Bucket" and Trace Adkins' "Swing" are all included in the additions. And, rounding out the pack is Willie Nelson's timeless travelling classic, "On the Road Again," from 1980's Honeysuckle Rose. Head over to our podcast to hear more about what your adoring Community Team thinks of these selections.

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks for $1.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and $2 on the Wii, or as "Going Country Pack 03" for $9.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The tracks will be available Feb. 2 on Xbox 360 and Wii and Feb. 4 on PlayStation 3.

To discuss this DLC, check out the official discussion thread in the Rock Band forums.

HMXthebeststeph hails from Tennessee… so she's allowed to say things like "yeehaw ya'll!"

Three words: Hank Williams Jr. He's one of the first to put some rock-n-roll into country music. And he was already country royalty, so the purists couldn't do much about it. Songs like "A Country Boy Can Survive", "Texas Women", "Family Tradition" and "Dixie On My Mind" are timeless and would work well in Rock Band.

Glad to see that there is more diversity coming down the pipes. I love country music, personally, and would love to see more. I am glad that all genres are being considered and hope to see more of every kind of music available in the future. I may not like all of it, but it is out there for someone to enjoy.

As Mr. Franklin once said, "You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time."

Actually, there is one other thing I'd like to ask....if the DLC doesn't come out until the following Tuesday....why does everyone whine and complain on Friday? Personally, I'd like to preview the songs before I say they ****....I might not be excited, but I can't hate them 'til I've heard them. Honestly...all you Metalheads out there...did you actually HEAR the songs before you started berating them?

I do agree that re-releasing songs from a disc is a bit lazy, however, I'm one of the people that would agree it's not totally pointless. I looked at the game disc in stores and saw very few songs that I liked, but when they released the songs as DLC I got to grab the ones I did actually want. (The Gambler, Good Time and She's All Country if you must know)

I don't see what all the fuss is about. These country songs are just as fun to play as anything else on Rock Band. Granted that they aren't as difficult, but they are popular songs that almost ever one knows. Just because you're a metal-head don't get all bent out of shape. I love metal as much as anyone and I still say these songs are pretty awesome.
Oh, and I would love to see some Ozzy, but I'm pretty sure that GH has the rights to them like Aerosmith and Metallica. And it's most likely that Zepplin would never give up their rights to a music game simply because they don't hardly do that for ANYONE. I'm sure they would have to have a very good reason and pay them bucko buks to get them on this game.

Why isn't Led Zepplin on rock band? I mean seriously...can- anyone give me a reason? Oh, what about Ozzy? Wow, Dio? It's time for some roots of metal to be on this-biz-natch.

"Well Haunting way to miss my point completely. This music is ALREADY AVAILABLE. Why do we lose a week of DLC to RERELEASE something you can go spend the same amount of money on at an actual store?"

And you're missing MY point. I clearly said that the same thing can be said about the metal track pack songs we got a week earlier. What, you think Nazerath and Motorhead showed up all by themselves?

"And...seriousl- y-- ...dude...your- comparing the musical sound of Megadeth...and Garth Brooks?"

I didn't say their sound was similar, I said their lyrical meaning was.

"Your right Malmsteen did write that song. And its amazing. Because he doesnt yokel and drawl when he sings."

So a song like "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" would be better infinitely better if it wasn't sung with a drawl? That's... just stupid. And also, YNGWIE DIDN'T SING IT!!!

"Oh and Allman Brothers? Nice try again ALSO Southern Rock."

I just wanted to know what you thought of Country's outlaw brother. They drawl, to

Faith I will grant you that some country guitarists can play. Thats not really the issue although you DO have to admit you hear FAR more amazing guitarists come from a rock/classical rock/metal background NOT country. Stevie Ray is AMAZING I got all his songs. Im not upset that its country. Im upset that they are releasing songs that have already been put on a track pack. Thats just lazy. If your gonna do that release those songs AND some new ones but not just ones already out for people to get. And fyi if I dont like the DLC your damn right im gonna complain how else do you let a company producing a product know you dont like it? Hope they read your mind? No you tell them. Its idiotic that people say complaining wont change something because Im voicing my opinion and face it the opinion of many others if you read the discussion thread about this DLC in the hopes that HMX wont pull this crap again. No more country no more already released songs.

And...seriously- ...dude...your- comparing the musical sound of Megadeth...and Garth Brooks? Music can be written about anything. What the song says doesnt define what genre it belongs to. Go read what I actually wrote. Your right Malmsteen did write that song. And its amazing. Because he doesnt yokel and drawl when he sings. It doesnt sound like utter crap. And Skynard? They are awesome but Im gonna clue you in on something...They arnt a country band...so nice try. Oh and Allman Brothers? Nice try again ALSO Southern Rock. In fact Id love if theyd release Freebird. But back to the point...Theres so little country because so FEW people want it. And once again way to not read what I said...we didnt waste a week of DLC on Metal songs already released on the track packs they made the pack after

You know, Azzimoth, you saying how Megadeth and Garth Brooks are so different got me thinking: didn't both write songs about a man coming home late at night doing unloyal things only for their partner to kill them as soon as they got back? Granted, Megadeth's song only implies that it'll happen and it's mostly instrumental, but it still got me thinking. And Yngwie Malmsteen wrote a song about his favorite car as well called "Red Devil," which found its way into Rock Band. Not much different than singing about a beat up pickup. At least it's more relateable than cutting children's throats and molesting them as they die. And if you wanna get started on Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers Band, go right ahead. I'd LOVE to hear what you have to say about them, considering that "On the Road Again" and "Ramblin' Man" are along the same subject.

Also, you talking about the Country Pack only staying on its disc for its target audience? NEWS FLASH: the same can be said about the metal pack!

Azzimoth. Dude, Music is Music, you don't have to like all of it, but it's still the same. For your information, Musicians often cover multiple genres of music. Rise Against can go from a hard tune like State of the Union to a beautiful soft song like Swing Life Away. Or how about the fact that Johnny Cash, Country Musician did an awesome cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt". Yes, you can't say they're the SAME, but realjeep didn't actually say they were the same. He said they were from the same family tree. Oh, and as for SHREDDING guitars, have you ever heard of Dick Dale, KING of the Surf Guitar? If not, go play Misirlou on Guitar Hero 2. Dick Dale is far from ROCK or METAL but he still Shredded. I might not like the DLC in this week, but I'm not going to complain about it, because I understand that there is more to music than METAL. On a lighter note, how about some Blues, Harmonix? Stevie Ray Vaughn is lookin a little lonely in there all by himself. :D

I love seeing the nonstop whining that comes from metalheads when Country songs are included in the shop. If you don't want to buy 'em, then don't buy 'em. Not every week can be designated to serving your specific interests. It's just a video game, people. The only thing funnier than this is when people whine like babies when Harmonix puts geek music in the store!

Oh and Realjeep...the simple fact that you said that rock and country are the same...are you crazy? Theres no difference? Uhm...how about the drums,vocals,ba- ss,- and SHEDDING guitars? Its a different GENRE thats why its not called COUNTRY + or COUNTRY II...seriously man...Can you actually listen to Judas Priest or Megadeth and tell me its the same type of song/music as Garth Brooks or Brad Paisly? What is wrong with you...you shouldnt even be allowed to play this game for your comment

HauntingYourKid- s:- Your right Psychedelic Furs were just as bad as the crap being released this week. And Ill reiterate...WHY IS MUSIC THATS ON A TRACK PACK BEING RELEASED IF ITS SPECIFICALLY TARGETED TO A CERTAIN GROUP?! If you follow logic that GROUP would buy that track pack. There is absolutely NO REASON to waste a week of DLC with this country crap. This game is ROCK Band. Its about Music. Its NOT about music with whiny redneck yokels singing about their 1960s pickup that they "love like a woman" that broke down, how they hit their dog backing out to go to their dead end job, and how when they got home from said job found their wife screwing someone else. Country ****s I tried to be nice now Ill just say it. Its a waste of DLC its a waste of our time and there is a reason theres so little of it. Who wants to play that crap? A tiny minority. Why do you think so many people want metal? Or classic rock? Do your research and try to debate my points next time.

-Play "Sin Wagon" and say that again, you chicken-wuss-ba- by.-

Azzimoth: "Whats the deal with the Country? This is ROCK Band...not Country Band. Put more classic Rock and Metal on here."

-Wouldn't that require "Classic Rock Band" or "Metal Band?" You people are most fun to pick on, the ones who say "No COUNTRY in ROCK Band, more GENRE THAT'S NOT NECESSARILY ROCK BY TRADITIONAL STANDARDS!!!" Where were you when the released the Psychedelic Furs a few weeks ago? Those songs were nowhere NEAR what one would call rock. Brad Paisley is more rockin' than the Psychedelic Furs. It's fact! Besides, you got metal and classic rock JUST LAST WEEK!

well when the babies are crying...you give them what they want ! its a marketing disaster. beatles was rock genre, why didnt we just DLC that? "Marketing" Country crap should be marketed as Country Band. Its a insult. they know what the people want, yea call me a cry babie with about 8000 ms points sitting here like spoiled milk. sorry for sounding harsh but if anyone is listening to what we here are saying the complaints about this subject out weigh the straw happy fans of country.but dont take my word for it just wait till tuesday...well i mean next tuesday maybe it will be another freeking freezpop song ...its like waiting for a ride that never shows up?

Grow up cry babies. There's not a spit of difference between rock and country as far as the music goes. They both come from the same family tree for crying out loud! I'll bet you all had a hissy when they asked the group Nine Inch Nails who the greatest guitar player was and they said "Junior Brown" a country rocker from way back. Musicians don't give a rip what genre it is most of the time as long as it's played well

Ive always been a supporter of the DLC considering its so much better and numerous than GH but this is starting to get really bad...Green Day Rock Band and the with the exception of this week I havent downloaded a song in almost a month...

if there's ever another country pack, be sure to have Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, or Merle Haggard.

Can't agree more with most of what's being said here.
-Country isn't bad, but two packs in one month?
-Bring real country in, like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard.
-Since the songs were on the country pack disc, anyone who truly wanted them have gotten them by now...

but one arguement, to I Slang Knowledge...
Willie Nelson is as legit as Johnny Cash and all of them.

Please, Please can we get some rock or metal or some other form of "rock"? I mean country is good i guess (not a big fan) but its not as fun to play as the metal track packs or any other rock bands.

I did appreciate last weeks metal track pack though :)

I will gladly buy a country track pack when artists like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Townes Van Zandt make the cut. I'll pass on the "pop with boots and southern accents".
