Gorillaz Attack Rock Band: Virtual Hip-Hop Superstars Meet Virtual Music Game

Cartoon characters playing instruments in a make-believe band? Hey, wish we'd thought of that! Seriously, folks, we're big fans of Gorillaz, the virtual band that Blur leader Damon Albarn created with a roomful of real and imaginary collaborators.
"Clint Eastwood," the first Gorillaz single, isn't necessarily about the guy you're thinking of. The song's partly inspired by the Jamaican reggae artist Clint Eastwood, who in turn stole his name from the actor. The song features a melodic, an instrument you'll hear both on reggae records and in the soundtracks to some of actor Eastwood's spaghetti Westerns. Albarn has admitted that neither Eastwood has contacted him since they released the song, but figures that Clint the actor would at least like it.
Both this track and "Re-Hash" feature sonic wizardry from an early Gorillaz collaborator, hip-hopper Dan "The Automator" Nakamura. By the time of 2005's "Feel Good Inc.," Albarn was behind the reins, and the music was getting closer to Blur's brand of popcraft. Of course we can't deliver those trademark Gorillaz animations, but feel free to create your own versions of 2-D Murdoc, Russel, and Noodle.
