Rock Band In-Game Store Released!
Downloadable content for Rock Band has been a roaring success, with more than six million songs sold to date. In the past three months we've rolled out everything from pure pop to thrash metal, from the Grateful Dead to Metallica; all to satisfy your wide-ranging tastes and provide you with a richer gaming experience. And now we're taking it to the next level, making DLC purchase easier and more fun—and, we hope, more tempting as well.
Presenting the all-new, in-game Rock Band music store — The first-ever in-game marketplace for XBox 360, and the first in the US for Playstation 3. Just think of this as Rock Band's version of that cool music store that you always loved to hang out in. You can stop in and check out the newest releases; you can hear previews of all the songs; you can check what's easy and what's tricky. Best of all, you won't ever have to leave the game; so you can start playing the songs the minute you've downloaded them.
"We are thrilled to give fans more ways to enhance and enjoy their Rock Band experience" - Paul Degooyer
The store was designed to feature a fast, convenient user interface. The newest titles will be displayed right upfront. You can search by artist, song title, or musical genre. Each song features an audio preview, and a look at the original album art (cover versions are clearly marked as such). Difficulty levels are provided, both overall and for each instrument. The store keeps a tab of everything you've purchased so far. And you'll be able to make quick jumps from one section of the store to another — something that will really make a difference as our DLC library expands to hundreds of titles.
According to Paul Degooyer, SVP DVD, Gaming and Audio, MTV, "The success of Rock Band downloadable content to date firmly reinforces our vision and its potential as a platform for music discovery. By empowering players with the ability to customize their Rock Band library with a rapidly growing selection of rock artists and songs on a weekly basis and adding great new features such as the in-game music store, we are thrilled to give fans more ways to enhance and enjoy their Rock Band experience."
