The Stickers are Red

Being the librarian I take requests for books and DVDs that we ought to have in the library for reference. Things like Almost Famous and the Fruits books.

A few weeks ago one of our artists made a request for Do's & Don'ts: 10 Years of Vice Magazine's Street Fashion Critiques. He said it was like the American version of Fruits, sort of. Amazon.com is alternately pretty great and pretty dumb in the books it recommends to purchase with the one you are looking at, but this time they were spot on in recommending The Vice Guide to Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll. I mean we are making a game called Rock Band, we've got to have this for reference right? It says "Rock and Roll" right there in the title.

I sort of missed the part that said "Sex and Drugs". The books arrived and before putting them on the shelf I flipped through them to see what they were about. Oh . Oh that's not usually stuff you read about at work . I mean we are a pretty calm group of people and no one is going to get all upset if they saw these books on the shelf. But what if they did? And what if I got in trouble for buying the book?!?! Oh noes!

So I did what any careful librarian would do. I slapped some Not Safe For Work stickers on them and put them on the shelf.
